In Committee from the Senate of Canada
National Finance - May 28, 2014
Senators continue their study of supplementary estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. Alain P. Séguin and Paul Thompson from Employment and Social Development Canada explain that the funding for their department would go towards the new Canada Job Fund, including the Canada Job Grant announced in the budget of 2013, and some funding would be transferred from Youth Employment to the National Research Council. Greg Smith from PPP Canada Inc. informs the committee that the replenishment of the P3 Canada fund through 2018-2019 will allow PPP Canada to run four more annual rounds of funding in addition to round six. Mark Perlman and Shawn Tupper from Public Safety Canada share that if the estimates are approved, funds will be provided to the province of Quebec to help decontaminate the polluted soil and water in Lac-Mégantic. David Cluff, Jeff Moore and Thao Pham of Infrastructure Canada provide an update on their department's activities as they relate to the New Building Canada Plan and the new bridge for the St. Lawrence.
