Banking, Trade and Commerce – June 12, 2014

The committee continues its study of digital currency, which includes the potential risks and advantages of various electronic forms of currency exchange. In the first panel, Senators hear from representatives of companies involved in electronic payment systems which includes Interac Association’s Caroline Hubberstey and PayPal’s Brian Murphy.

In the second panel, the Senators hear from a representative of a company involved in the electronic payment system of digital currencies. Testifying via videoconference is BitPay’s Tim Byun who speaks on his company’s interactions with bitcoins, a virtual currency.
