The committee begins its study on international market access priorities for the Canadian agricultural and agri-food sector. In 2012, this sector generated $103.5 billion, accounting for 6.7% of Canada's total GDP. Canada is the world's fifth-largest exporter, responsible for 3.5% of the total value of world agriculture and agri-food exports. Jean-Charles Le Vallée, senior research associate for the Conference Board of Canada's Centre for Food in Canada testifies, along with David McInnes, president of the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute, and Ted Bilyea, Chair of the Institute's board of directors.
