In Committee from the Senate of Canada - Human Rights - October 30, 2014

Conservative Senator Thanh Hai Ngo discusses his bill (S-219) to recognize April 30 as a national day of commemoration of the exodus of Vietnamese refugees and their acceptance in Canada after the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.
Senators then resume their study on how UNHCR and UNICEF addresses the needs of displaced children in conflict situations, with particular attention to the current crisis in Syria. Jeff Crisp, senior director for policy and advocacy for Refugees International, and Matt Streng, senior youth development advisor at Mercy Corps, testify during this portion of the meeting.
