Human Rights – November 20, 2014

The committee continues its review of Conservative Senator Thanh Hai Ngo’s bill (S-219) to recognize April 30 as a national day of commemoration of the exodus of Vietnamese refugees and their acceptance in Canada after the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. Mike Molloy, the president of the Canadian Immigration Historical Society and Dr. Can Le, the former secretary general of the Vietnamese Canadian Federation provide a brief historic account of how the refugees arrived in Canada and express their support for the proposed legislation.
