In Committee from the Senate of Canada
National Finance - November 20, 2014
Representatives from the Royal Canadian Mint and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business testify as part of the committee’s pre-study hearings on the budget bill (C-43). J. Marc Brûlé, interim president and CEO of the Mint, and Sean Byrne, André Aubrey, and Simon Kamel, three of the Crown corporation’s vice–presidents, provide an overview of operations. They also discuss the impact of the measure for the Mint to produce goods and services to the federal government at cost, thereby eliminating the profit element. Monique Moreau, director of national affairs for the CFIB, expresses her group’s support of the Small Business Job Credit, which will lower E.I. rates for small businesses over the next two years. (November 20, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-43 received royal assent on December 16.
