The committee discusses the budget implementation bill (C-43) during the first part of the meeting. Vanessa Warren, a representative of the Rural Burlington Greenbelt Coalition and Bernard Gaudreau, mayor of Neuville, Quebec, discuss the proposed amendments to the Aeronautics Act related to the development and expansion of aerodromes.
Senators then turn their attention to proposed legislation dealing with safety, environmental protection and financial liability in case of an oil spill. Transport Canada officials Dave Dawson, Daniel Haché, Sylvain Lachance, Aline MacDougall, and François Marier, as well as Lieutenant Colonel Martin Leblanc from National Defence, provide details of Bill C-3. (November 25, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-43 received royal assent on December 16.
