Industry Minister James Moore's testimony launches the committee's study of legislation aimed at protecting consumers from counterfeit products. Bill C-8 will amend the Copyright Act and modernize intellectual property laws. John Knubley (deputy minister), Paul Halucha (director general, strategic policy branch) and Michael Ryan (senior analyst, copyright and trade-mark policy directorate) from Industry Canada, Superintendent Jean Cormier (director, federal coordination centers) of the RCMP and Peter Hill (associate vice-president, programs branch) and Megan Imrie (director general, commercial program directorate, programs branch) from the Canadian Border Services Agency provide additional testimony.
