Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources - December 2, 2014
Julie Gelfand, the federal environment and sustainable development commissioner, discusses her first report to Parliament, which was tabled on October 7th . Despite some initiatives and progress in certain areas, her report found that the federal government does not have answers to many questions that impact the future of sustainable development in Canada. Her report touched on areas such as the government’s approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the monitoring of oil sands and marine navigation in the Arctic.
