Jean-Pierre Corbeil, the assistant director of the Social and Aboriginal Statistics Division at Statistics Canada, testifies as part of the committee’s study of Bill S-205. He provides a history of official languages spoken according to population estimates and changes in the linguistic situation of the country. Senator Maria Chaput’s bill amends the Official Languages Act to clarify the duties of the federal government in relation to providing services in both official languages. (December 8, 2014)
