Conservative MP Mark Adler presents his bill regarding the disclosure of partisan activity by Parliamentary watchdogs’ staff. Bill C-520 would require current employees and applicants for a position in the office of Parliamentary agents to file a declaration indicating any politically partisan position held within the past 10 years. Staff and applicants would also have to declare if they intend to hold a partisan position while performing their current duties. The nine offices affected by the proposed bill include those of the auditor general, the chief electoral officer, and the official languages, privacy, ethics, and lobbying commissioners.
