Michel Bastarache, former justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, Mark Power, a partner at Power Law, and Allan Damer, president of the Fédération des associations de juristes d’expression française de common law inc., offer their perspectives on Bill S-205. Liberal Senator Maria Chaput’s bill amends the Official Languages Act with respect to federal institutions' obligation to provide services in both official languages. The panel discuss issues such the need to modernize the Act so that is consistent with constitutional obligations and some of the problems faced by minority language communities. (February 2, 2015)
