In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Agriculture and Forestry - February 17, 2015
Senators hold their last hearing on the Agricultural Growth Act. Bill C-18 proposes to update and streamline numerous federal agricultural statutes, some of which have not been changed in over 60 years. Seven of the statutes fall under the oversight of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and two under Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Jaye Atkins, chief executive officer of the Agriculture Credit Corporation, and Graham Cooper, executive director of the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada, present their organizations’ support of the proposed changes to the Agricultural Marketing Programs Act and to the Feeds Act. Committee members proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of the bill following the witnesses’ testimony. (February 17, 2015)
