Union representatives, the federal privacy commissioner and provincial labour ministers are among the witnesses who discuss legislation (C-377) requiring public financial disclosure by labour organizations.

The following witnesses outline their concerns with Conservative MP Russ Hiebert’s bill: Bruce Ryder (Osgoode Hall Law School professor); Tom Stamatakis (president of the Canadian Police Association); Jerry Dias (national president of Unifor); Kelly Regan (Nova Scotia labour minister); Dick Heinen (executive director of the Christian Labour Association of Canada); D. Cameron Hunter (pension consultant); Daniel Therrien (federal privacy commissioner); Kevin Flynn (Ontario labour minister); and Laurie Channer (director of industrial relations for the Writers Guild of Canada).

John Mortimer (president of the Canadian LabourWatch Association), Aaron Wudrick (federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation) and Ian Lee (assistant professor at Carleton University) express their support of C-377. (May 7, 2015) UPDATE: Bill C-377 received royal assent on June 30.
