Senators continue to examine Bill C-46, the Pipeline Safety Act. Jeff Labonté (director general, energy safety and security branch, energy sector) and Terence Hubbard (director general, petroleum resources branch, energy sector) from Natural Resources Canada discuss the current safety regulations in place and provide support for the added security the proposed legislation could bring. Robert Steedman (chief environment officer) and Jonathan Timlin (director, regulatory approaches) from the National Energy Board of Canada discuss the role of their organization and provide additional support for the bill. (May 26, 2015) UPDATE: Bill C-46 received royal assent on June 18.
