Several legal aid groups testify as the committee continues its study of delays in Canada's criminal justice system. Senators will review the roles of the federal government and Parliament in addressing such delays. The following witnesses discuss factors that contribute to court delays: RCMP Assistant Commissioner Joseph Oliver (who is speaking on behalf of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police0, David Field and Marcus Pratt (respectively the president and acting director general of policy and strategic research of Legal Aid Ontario), Karen Hudson (executive director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission) and Mark Benton (chief executive officer of Legal Aid B.C.).
