Senior government officials and legal experts testify as the committee continues its review of the government's medically-assisted dying legislation (C-14). The committee is meeting on the last day for Parliament to pass a new assisted dying law before the deadline imposed by the Supreme Court of Canada. Senators first hear from Justice Canada officials Joanne Klineberg and Carole Morency, as well as Abby Hoffman from Health Canada. The following witnesses then testify as individuals: constitutional experts Peter Hogg and Gerald D. Chipeur, Tom McMorrow (University of Ontario Institute of Technology) and Dr. Catherine Ferrier (McGill University Health Centre). Lawyer Trista Carey, University of Ottawa professor Amir Attaran and B.C. Civil Liberties Association executive director Josh Paterson testify during the third panel.
