In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Fisheries and Oceans - May 4, 2017
Vancouver Aquarium representatives John Nightingale (president and CEO) and Dr. Martin Haulena (head veterinarian) discuss their concerns with Bill S-203. The proposed legislation would end the captivity of whales and dolphins in Canada, with an exception for rescues and rehabilitation. Now retired senator Wilfred Moore introduced the bill in 2015. Laurenne Schiller, a Ph.D. student in the marine affairs program at Dalhousie University, also shares her concerns with the legislation during the second part of the meeting. (May 4, 2017)
