Senators continue their examination of Bill S-3, which aims to eliminate sex-based inequities in Indian registration. The first panel is made of the following witnesses: Lynn Gehl (who won an Ontario court challenge to gain Indian status), Emilie Lahaie (staff lawyer, Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto) and Mary Eberts (co-author of Matrimonial Property on Reserve). Francyne Joe and Lynne Groulx, respectively interim president and executive director of the Native Women’s Association of Canada testify during the second panel, along with Drew Lafond from the Indigenous Bar Association.
