Phoenix: IBM Execs Speak Out and Lessons from Australia
National Finance - March 28, 2018: IBM Canada executives defend their role in the government's problematic rollout of the Phoenix Pay System. Execs say that top federal bureaucrats were warned about issues prior to the rollout and that they urged the government to delay Phoenix's launch. IBM was responsible for the new payroll software that has ultimately left tens of thousands of public servants underpaid, overpaid, or not paid. Representing IMB Canada and IBM Services are Regan Watts, Beth Bell, and Bernie Semenjuk. Also appearing at the committee is Michael Walsh, director general for Queensland Health, who speaks on the failures from overhauling the payroll system in the Australian state of Queensland.
