Conservative MP Candice Hoeppner discussed her private member's bill (C-391) to abolish the federal long-gun registry. The committee also heard from Alok Mukherjee and Carol Allison-Burra from the Canadian Association of Police Boards; senior deputy commissioner William Sweeney and C/Supt Marty Cheliak of the RCMP; Paulette Senior from YWCA Canada; and Chief Rick Hanson of the Calgary Police Service. MPs are scheduled to vote on Hoeppner's bill on September 22.
