In Committee from the House of Commons - Industry

Industry, Science and Technology (September 10, 2010)
MPs discussed the permanent closure of AbitibiBowater's paper mills in Gatineau and Dolbeau-Mistassini. The two Quebec mills had employed a total of about 570 workers. AbitibiBowater's president and CEO, David Paterson, testified on the impact of the company's restructuring plans. Several MPs questioned Paterson on the issue of executive bonuses. The Montreal-based newsprint company filed for court protection from creditors in April 2009. It hopes to exit from the court protection in October.
