MPs discussed the permanent closure of AbitibiBowater's paper mills in Gatineau and Dolbeau-Mistassini. The two Quebec mills had employed a total of about 570 workers.
Committee members heard from the following witnesses: Jean-Pierre Boivin from the Regional County Municipality of Maria-Chapdelaine (Quebec); Yves Lachapelle from the Quebec Forest Industry Council; Justine Hendricks from Export Development Canada; and Don Stephenson from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
