Public Accounts (December 14, 2010) Auditor General Sheila Fraser discussed her report on Christiane Ouimet, the former public sector integrity commissioner. Fraser has denounced Ouimet's behaviour and actions as inappropriate and unacceptable. Fraser’s office had been investigating three complaints about Ouimet when the commissioner resigned in October, four years before the end of her term. Prime Minister Stephen Harper had appointed Ouimet to a seven-year term in 2007 as the first integrity commissioner, with a mandate to protect whistleblowers. Acting Deputy Commissioner Joe Friday, and Michael Nelson, chair of the integrity office's audit committee, also testified.
