Citizenship and Immigration (March 8, 2012)

MPs continued their study on the security of Canada's immigration system.

Sharon Chomyn, director general of the international region for Citizenship and Immigration, discussed the importance of the visa office's role in Canada's immigration process. Sidney Frank, immigration program manager for New Delhi, India spoke about the visa offices in that country, and how they compare to those in Canada.

During the second part of the meeting, former MLA and current family physician Gulzar Cheema discussed the medical screening associated with immigration. Dan Bohbot, president of the Quebec Immigration Lawyers Association (AQAADI) spoke about the use of biometrics.
