Agriculture and Agri-Food (March 12, 2012) Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz discussed his department's expenditure plans for 2011-2012 and the main estimates for the next fiscal year. The minister spoke about recent trade missions to China and the United States, and the reform of the Canadian Wheat Board. He was asked about topics including cuts to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), and research and innovation programs. CFIA representatives Paul Mayers, Peter Everson and Barbara Jordan responded to questions during the second part of the meeting, along with department officials Greg Meredith, Pierre Corriveau and Rita Moritz.
