Public Accounts (April 5, 2012) Auditor General Michael Ferguson responded to questions about his spring report, which included a major audit of the F-35 procurement process. Ferguson concluded that DND officials misled Parliament and did not provide complete cost information about the purchase of the 65 fighter jets. Opposition parties say the Harper government must take responsibility for the mismanagement of the file. The government says it has taken action to address the auditor general's concerns, which include freezing the funds for acquisition and setting up a secretariat to monitor the program.
