Senior government officials from the Departments of Finance, Human Resources and Skills Development, and Public Safety, the Treasury Board Secretariat and the Parks Canada Agency briefed the committee on certain measures contained in part 4 of the budget implementation bill.

Elements of Bill C-38 that were discussed in this meeting included measures to phase out Social Insurance Number cards, changes to the reporting requirements for parent Crown corporations, and legislation related to maritime law enforcement operations between Canada and the United States.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
