Senior government officials from various departments briefed the committee on certain measures contained in part 4 of the budget implementation bill.

Elements of Bill C-38 that were discussed in this meeting included changes to the Canada Health Act which would affect the way members of the RCMP access health care, the elimination of CSIS’s inspector general position, the classification of prescription drugs, and increasing the age of eligibility for Old Age Security benefits.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
