Executives from various telecommunications companies discussed the proposed changes in the budget bill that would affect their industry. Bill C-38 amends the Telecommunications Act to change the rules relating to foreign ownership of Canadian telecommunications providers.

Mirko Bibic from BCE Inc. and Bell Canada, Gary Wong of Mobilicity, Bruce Kirby of Public Mobile, and Simon Lockie with WIND Mobile testified. David Coles with the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada also presented his views on the measures.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
