Special Cooperatives
Special Cooperatives (July 27, 2012) Committee members heard from two panels as they continued their consideration of cooperatives in Canada. The special committee is holding summer hearings and intends to submit its report on the status of cooperatives when the House of Commons resumes sitting in September. Nigel Mohammed and Dale Ward (Assiniboine Credit Union); Albert Cramer and Doyle Brandt (Red Hat Co-operative Ltd.); and Peter Harty and Kevin Crush (Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd.) presented their views and concerns in the first part of the session. MPs then heard from representatives from health and financial cooperatives. Witnesses for this part of the session included Jodie Stark from the Concentra Financial Services Association, and Tim Archer and Patrick Lapointe from the Community Health Co-operative Federation Ltd.
