In Committee from the House of Commons - Justice and Human Rights - November 21, 2013

Justice Minister Peter MacKay discusses the proposed amendments to the Supreme Court Act that are contained in the latest budget implementation bill (C-4). The changes were introduced to deal with the legal challenge that is blocking the appointment of Justice Marc Nadon to the high court as a judge from Quebec.

Appearing as individuals in the second part of the meeting are Benoît Pelletier, a law professor at the University of Ottawa, Pierre Thibault, assistant dean of the civil law section at the same university, and Hugo Cyr, a law professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal. (November 21, 2013)

UPDATE: Bill C-4 received royal assent on December 12.
