Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities
Employment and Social Development Minister Jason Kenney and Minister of State for Social Development Candice Bergen present highlights from their department’s main estimates for the fiscal year. The minister is asked about the controversial Temporary Foreign Worker Program and negotiations with the provinces and territories regarding the Canada Job Grant.
In the second part of the meeting, minister Kenney launches the committee’s study on the renewal of labour market development agreements. The federal government transfers $2 billion annually to provinces and territories through the LMDAs to provide skills training to EI clients and employment services to all unemployed Canadians.
