The committee hears from two panels as it continues its study of the budget implementation act (C-31).
Lawyer John Richardson, Darren Hannah with the Canadian Bankers Association, Brian Kingston from the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and Interim Privacy Commissioner Chantal Bernier focus their remarks on the measures related to the sharing of tax information with the U.S. under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or FATCA.
Retired Canadian Forces captain Sean Bruyea, Cyndee Todgham Cherniak from the Canadian Bar Association, Shannon Coombs with the Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association, Gordon Lloyd with the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada, and Simon Fraser University professor Dominique Gross testify during the second panel. They discuss proposals including an amendment to the Hazardous Products Act and monetary penalties for employers who abuse the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. (May 14, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-31 received royal assent on June 19.
