The committee holds a special meeting to study the current human rights situation in Vietnam. Speaking at the committee are the Vietnamese Canadian Federation’s Can D. Le (president) and Khue-Tu Nguyen (commissioner for human rights), and Boat People SOS’s Thang D. Nguyen. The witnesses speak on how the Vietnamese government is imprisoning its country’s human rights activists and dissenters. Plus a video is shown of three activists who tell their own personal experiences with the governing communist party’s human rights violations. (May 29, 2014)
