In Committee from the House of Commons

Finance – November 18, 2014

The committee continues with its review of the government’s latest budget implementation bill. MPs hear from the following witnesses: Wendy Zatylny (Association of Canadian Port Authorities); Michèle Biss (Canada Without Poverty); Janice Gray (Canadian Cancer Society); David Macdonald (Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives), Gerry Gaetz (Canadian Payments Association); Tom McAllister (Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada), and assistant parliamentary budget officer Mostafa Askari. The witnesses discuss elements of Bill C-43 such as amendments that could restrict access to social assistance for refugee claimants, a measure that will allow charities to use computer and other modern technologies to run lotteries, and the proposed Small Business Job Credit.
