The committee continues with its hearings on the government's budget implementation bill (C-43). MPs hear from the following witnesses: Steven Hoffman (University of Ottawa, as an individual); Ian Culbert (canadian Public Health Association); Véronique Lalande (Initiative de vigilance du Port de Québec); Daniel Therrien (federal privacy commissioner); Elizabeth Kingston (North West Territories and Nunavut Chamber of Mines); Stephen Mooney (Yukon Research Centre); and Joel Kettner (University of Manitoba, as an individual).
The witnesses discuss measures to create the position of president as deputy head of the Public Health Agency of Canada, the establishment of the Canadian High Arctic Research Station, and amendments to the Canada Marine Act, the DNA Identification Act, and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. (November 24, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-43 received royal assent on December 16.
