The committee conducts its clause-by-clause review of the budget implementation bill. C-43 contains measures such as changes to the role of Canada's chief public health officer, a reduction in Employment Insurance premiums for small business owners, eliminating fees that telecommunication companies charge customers for paper bills, and amendments that could restrict access to social assistance for refugee claimants. UPDATE: Bill C-43 received royal assent on December 16.
