In Committee from the House of Commons
Procedure and House Affairs - March 24, 2017
Committee members continue to meet amid the debate over possible changes to the rules of the House of Commons. The committee has filibustered since March 21, as opposition MPs protest any changes to the Standing Orders without unanimous support of all parties. The government recently released a discussion paper with proposals that include eliminating Friday sittings, allowing electronic voting, changing Question Period by setting one day each week for the prime minister to answer questions, and preventing filibusters at committees.
