Transport, Infrastructure and Communities - September 11, 2017 - Part 1
The committee reconvenes a week ahead of Parliament's return to begin its hearings on C-49, an omnibus bill to amend the Canada Transportation Act and other Acts. One of the proposed amendments in the Transportation Modernization Act will allow the Canada Transportation Agency to create a passenger bill of rights. Helena Borges, associate deputy transport minister, provides an overview of other key provisions. Her colleagues Brigitte Diogo (director general, Rail Safety) and Marcia Jones (director, rail policy analysis and legislative initiatives) also testify, along with Mark Schaan (director general, marketplace framework policy branch, strategic policy sector, Department of Industry).
