International Trade - September 18, 2017
The committee resumes its hearings on the NAFTA renegotiations. Max Skudra (director of research and government relations, Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business), Wayne Garnons-Williams (chair, International Inter-tribal Trade and Investment Organization) and Dawn Madahbee Leach (interim chair, National Aboriginal Economic Development Board) offer the perspective from Indigenous business groups. The following witnesses then offer their groups' objectives for the negotiations: Dairy Farmers of Canada representatives Pierre Lampron (president) and Isabelle Bouchard (director of communications and government relations), as well as Norm Beal (chief executive officer, Food and Beverage Ontario). Michael Geist (University of Ottawa law professor) discusses NAFTA's chapters on intellectual property and e-commerce.
