Procedure and House Affairs – December 5, 2017

Representatives from the Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) participates in the committee’s study on the creation of an independent commissioner responsible for leaders’ debates. CPAC’s Catherine Cano (President and General Manager) and Peter Van Dusen (Executive Producer) discuss their channel’s coverage of past federal elections, the possible role of a debate commissioner, and more.

Also participating in the study are Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s Diane Bergeron and Thomas Simpson, Canadian Association of the Deaf’s Frank Folino, and Council of Canadians with Disabilities’ James Hicks. The witnesses offer recommendations to make leaders’ debates more accessible for people with disabilities.
