Energy Regulators and Indigenous Chiefs on Environmental Reforms
Environment and Sustainable Development - April 25, 2018: Officials from the National Energy Board, the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission speak on how their respective organizations will fit into Canada’s new environmental framework laid out in Bill C-69. Indigenous chiefs also speak on the potential impact of the environmental reforms on their respective First Nations’ communities. Appearing before the committee are the National Energy Board’s Peter C. Watson; the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board’s Scott Tessier; the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission’s Michael M. Binder; West Moberly First Nations’ Chief Roland Willson; Wolf Lake First Nation’s Chief Harold St-Denis; as well as Kebaowek First Nation’s Chief Lance Haymond.
