Citizenship and Immigration - July 24, 2018 - Part 1: The House immigration committee holds the first meeting of its special summer study on the impact of increased irregular border crossings. Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale and newly sworn in Border Security Minister Bill Blair are questioned over the government's response. Appearing alongside the ministers are the Department of Citizenship and Immigration’s Paul MacKinnon and Mike MacDonald; as well as the Canada Border Services Agency’s John Ossowski. Jean-Nicolas Beuze, the UN Refugee Agency’s representative in Canada, testifies during the second hour of the meeting, along with immigration lawyers Peter Edelmann and Jamie Liew.
