Senior officials from the Canada Revenue Agency and the Department of Finance briefed the committee on certain measures contained in part 4 of the budget implementation bill. Elements of Bill C-38 that were discussed included changes for charities engaging in political activities, amendments related to the green levy on fuel inefficient vehicles, new oversight of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the elimination of the penny.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
