In Committee from the House of Commons - Justice and Human Rights - November 17, 2011

Justice and Human Rights:

MPs had convened to resume their clause by clause consideration of the omnibus crime bill. They instead spent the meeting debating a surprise Conservative motion to end hearings on the bill by midnight the same day.

The Conservatives have been criticized for their repeated use of time allocation measures this session to limit debate on contentious bills such as legislation to end the Canadian Wheat Board and the bill to eliminate the long-gun registry.

These proceedings cover the start of the meeting up until the time that MPs suspended for question period.
