The Air India Inquiry – October 17, 2007 (Part 4 of 4)

Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182

Witness: Douglas Best

Douglas Best (Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)) continues his testimony before the Commission. Norman Boxall (Counsel for the Air India Victims’ Families Association) cross-examines Mr. Best about his interactions with a source identified as “Ms. E,” who was a Sikh woman associated with Ajaib Singh Bagri, an individual suspected of involvement in the plot to bomb Air India flight 182. Mr. Boxall asks the witness about various promises made to “Ms. E,” particularly those made by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). Mr. Best speaks about CSIS’s and the RCMP’s failure to honour those promises to “Ms. E” and the subsequent effects on her relationship with those agencies. Charleen Brenzall (Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada) briefly cross-examines the witness and Commission Counsel Anil Kapoor asks some brief follow-up questions.
