Public Hearings on Accommodation Practices – Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, Que.
The Consultation Commission on Accommodation Practices Related to Cultural Differences (the “Bouchard–Taylor Commission”) was established in February 2007 by Quebec Premier Jean Charest. The public consultation program includes a number of public hearings focusing on issues relating to the protection of ethno-cultural minority rights while also respecting the rights of larger demographics within Quebec. This November 1, 2007, hearing in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, Que., includes briefs and testimonials from Roger Carette (mayor of St-Georges-de-Beauce), Antoine Dubé (president of the SNQ Chaudière-Appalaches chapter), Maurice Roy (Commission scolaire des Appalches), and also from various citizens speaking as individuals.
