Province-Wide Hearings on Accommodation Practices – Montreal, Que.
This December 12, 2007, hearing in Montreal, Que., includes briefs from Françoise David (president of Québec Solidaire), Dominique Verreault (president of Intersyndicale des femmes), and Marc Gold (co-president of the Tolerance Foundation). The Consultation Commission on Accommodation Practices Related to Cultural Differences (the “Bouchard–Taylor Commission”) was established in February 2007 by Quebec Premier Jean Charest. The public consultation program includes a number of province-wide public hearings focusing on issues relating to the protection of ethno-cultural minority rights while also respecting the rights of larger demographics within Quebec.
