Public Hearings on Accommodation Practices – Montreal, Que.
The Consultation Commission on Accommodation Practices Related to Cultural Differences (the “Bouchard–Taylor Commission”) was established in February 2007 by Quebec Premier Jean Charest. The public consultation program includes a number of public hearings focusing on issues relating to the protection of ethno-cultural minority rights while also respecting the rights of larger demographics within Quebec. This November 30, 2007, hearing in Montreal, Que., includes briefs and testimonials from Maurice Piché (Collège de Bois-de-Boulogne), Jean Duhaime (Faculty of Theology at the Université de Montréal), Gina Gasparrini (Regroupement des CPE de l’Île de Montréal), and also from various citizens speaking as individuals.
